Higher Education Institutions (HEI) play a very important role in producing today’s knowledge society. Islamic HEIs based on studies such as aqidah, sharia, and morality also contribute to the development of human capital, which is beneficial to the community in Malaysia. Among the studies offered at Islamic HEI is the study of the Quran, which aims to enable students to read the Quran well. Selected Islamic HEIs also offer the Quranic Sanad Talaqqī Course to the public on a certificate basis. The demand for Quranic sanad talaqqī is growing in Malaysia. However, the number of HEIs offering this course is limited. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to examine the role of HEIs in cultivating Quranic sanad talaqqī. This study will perform a comparative analysis of courses offered at the University of Malaya (UM) and Sultan Ismail Petra International Islamic University College (KIAS). Descriptive analysis includes characteristics such as course name, course objectives, duration of study, course content, student assessment, and awarding of sanad. The method of this study is qualitative, while data collection includes secondary data from published and internet sources. The results of the study indicate the Quranic Sanad Talaqqī Course needs to be further developed and promoted. Furthermore, learning by sanad talaqqī is a sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and the qurrā’ in every age. Therefore, Islamic HEIs need to play a major role in cultivating the Quranic sanad talaqqī.
